PowerShaper Flex

PowerShaper Flex is customer-facing application for Carbon Co-op’s Demand Side Response system, developed first under the OpenDSR project and then under the REScoop VPP project.

The PowerShaper Flex system is made up of several components. The below discusses only the backend Flex application. In addition to this there is the HEMS (Home Energy Management System) which is installed in peoples homes and provides a pre-configured Home Assistant, interfaces with local energy appliances, and communicates with the backend services via a few different APIs. There is also the Balena Cloud service which provides the device management, remote access, and OTA updates for the HEMS; and the Influx Cloud telemetry service which is used for monitoring and debugging using live data.
