User Applications

The end users of the PowerShaper Flex system interact with the system through the PowerShaper Flex website, located at https://app.powershaper.io

There are two relevant user roles: PowerShaper Flex Administrators and PowerShaper Flex Participant.

PowerShaper Flex Administrator Interface

The PowerShaper Flex Administrator user is a Carbon Co-op staff member who has access to the PowerShaper Flex Administrator interface and the OpenADR server (VTN) application.

Events are created and scheduled on the VTN application. The PowerShaper Administrator interface is used to review participants and their energy data.

After successful enrolment, installation and commissioning, the participant-facing user application becomes visible on Carbon Co-op’s PowerShaper platform (https://app.powershaper.io). This system allows participants to review DSR events and control notifications.

When an event is scheduled

Participants will be notified by email and/or SMS according to their preference, though SMS notification is conditional on the contact phone number registered for PowerShaper being a UK mobile phone number. Notifications are sent out no more than one week in advance of the event. Notifications will not be sent overnight: any that are triggered after 9pm will be sent at 8am the following morning.

Opting out of an event

Participants may opt out of individual DSR control events, meaning that their applicances will not be deactivated. This can be done via the PowerShaper site as soon as an event is scheduled, simply by clicking “Skip this event” in the list of upcoming events.

Users can also opt back into an event that they have previously opted out of through the same interface.

After an event has taken place

After an event has taken place, a participant will be able to see a report on their energy usage during the event. The usage during the event is recorded for every 30 minute time period, and compared to a baseline calculated from your past usage.
